Mandy Basal is the Director for Workforce Development, where she oversees the execution of programmatic operations for one of the most compelling and extensive suites of workforce development programs for the Department of Energy and other federal agencies related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).  She successfully navigates and manages organizational change, aligning resources with strategic priorities and ensures adaptability in a dynamic environment.

 

Basal originally joined ORAU in 2011 as a financial analyst and has built an impressive career with over 25 years of experience in project and financial management. Prior to ORAU, Basal excelled as a finance and credit manager for Owens and Minor, a healthcare supply chain management company.

 

Beyond her role at ORAU, Basal is active member of the Workforce Development Committee at the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce and is proud to be a 2024 Leadership Oak Ridge graduate.  She is also a member of both the National Postdoctoral Association and the National Association for Colleges and Employers.  Basal holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Northern Michigan University and has earned both the Project Management Professional certification and the Project Management Institute’s Risk Management Professional certification.
